With hurricane season upon us, it is important to prepare not only your home, but your yard as well, for upcoming storms. When it comes to your outdoor space, you want to bring in all of your patio furniture inside to prevent it from being carried away by high winds and/or causing damage to your home. If any of your larger, heavier pieces cannot be moved indoors, then be sure to secure them to the ground.
Aside from outdoor furniture, also be sure to clear your yard of debris and to trim any trees near your home. It’s also a good idea to clean out your gutters before a storm hits.
If you own a gas grill, be sure to pick up a fresh supply of propane to get you through the storm. Gas grills can come in handy when the electricity is out and you have food to cook. Keep in mind, gas grills can also be used as charcoal grills if your propane runs out. So, it’s a good idea to pick up some charcoal too, just in case.
Gas fireplaces also come in handy during a storm by providing you light and warmth when the power goes out. Just be sure to monitor the fire and to turn off your gas logs when you go to bed.
