Chances are that if you live anywhere in North Carolina, everything you see when you step outside is covered in pollen. That includes your car, your sidewalk, your windows, and your outdoor entertaining spaces. Since no one wants to sit down on patio furniture that’s covered in a thick yellow coat of pollen, we have put together some pollen cleaning tips for you. That way, you can enjoy the beautiful spring weather without being coated by pollen in the meantime.
The first step to removing pollen from your deck, porch, or outdoor furniture, is to spray it down with a garden hose. This will wash away any fresh layers of pollen, but it may not get the pollen that has been sitting around for a while on your furniture.
To remove pollen that has settled in and is caked on, you will probably need to do some scrubbing after you’ve rinsed off the top layer of pollen. Fill up a spray bottle with warm water and a few drops of dish soap. Spray this on your patio furniture and scrub with a bristled brush. Then, use the garden hose to rinse off the water, soap, and remaining pollen. Sit your furniture out in the sun to let it dry.
